At CYA we always put our players first and will continue to do so. In this ever-changing landscape, we are further committed to providing all players a safe place to play for the Fall/Spring 2020-2021 season. With that in mind, and to mitigate the stress revolving around tryout season - CYA will be offering a renewal commitment to all active existing players!

** We are asking everyone (current and non-current CYA players) to register for tryouts in our registration system to allow us the best possible planning for our teams and staff. Registration for CYA tryouts indicates your intent to return to CYA for the upcoming year, and you will need to be in the registration system in order to get an invitation. Registration is NOW OPEN, so you can go in today and register! **

While committing to offer a spot to every active/returning CYA player without stress of trying out we want to place players on teams that will provide them with the best competitive and challenging environment to develop their soccer abilities and achieve long-term success. Internally, CYA conducts Individual Development Plans, Age Group Depth Charts, and coach input on player progression on a regular basis. These ongoing evaluations allow us to move forward with player placement without the normal tryout process.

For players currently not with CYA Soccer we will have open tryouts scheduled during summer team training sessions starting immediately once we are allowed back on the field, but in the meantime we ask that once you register you contact the Purple Coach in your age group and express your interest in trying out.

Practice Times / Locations

Travel team practices are held on weekday afternoons and evenings on turf fields located in the Chantilly/Herndon area. The two main training fields for the Travel Program are Sully Highlands Park and Word of Grace.

Travel team players commit to their team for the entire 2020-2021 seasonal year. U9-U12 Travel Teams have 2 team practices a week, and 1 “Travel Academy” practice a week during the fall and spring, and 1 team practice and 1 Travel Academy practice a week during the winter. The U9-U12 play games on weekends throughout the fall and spring season. In addition, teams may have 'offseason' activities such as Futsal leagues. *Due to Covid-19 note that Fall 2020 Travel Academy may be replaced with individual team sessions to keep our players in smaller group*

U13+ Travel Teams have 3 team practices a week during the fall and spring, and 2 team practices a week during the winter. The U13+ play games on weekends throughout the fall and spring season. In addition, teams may have 'offseason' activities such as the “CYA Innovative Player Clinic.

All CYA travel teams do a minimum of 3 tournaments a year but have the ability to do as many as the schedule permits. Additional tournaments beyond 3 will need to be covered by the team separate from their club fees. Commitment is typically higher for more competitive teams where there may be additional required sessions in the winter and summer.

Player Evaluation

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, CYA will not be hosting in person tryouts until the stay at home order is lifted, and regular return to play activities resume. This will be based on local, state, federal, and soccer governing bodies.

We will be inviting all current CYA Travel Players back to CYA for the Fall 2020-2021 season.

For NEW players to CYA, if we are back on the field in June, they will have the ability to attend a team training session with their respective age group. If we are not still not on the field, they will have the ability to send the age group coach a virtual video submission to be reviewed by the coaching staff for team placement.

Team Formation

Teams are formed based on the results of entire age group tryouts. CYA typically offers 2-4 teams per age group. However, this number may vary from year-to-year based on the results of the tryout process. The teams are labeled and tiered "Purple", "Silver", “Black”, and “White”.

 Player Fees

· There is no fee to tryout – but registration is mandatory and can be accessed on the website

· Participation in the travel program consists of one Club Fee - CYA Club Fees can be found here.

· CYA Soccer is committed to providing financial assistance to help players who would otherwise be unable to participate in any CYA Soccer Program. We encourage families to apply as soon as possible and no later than three weeks prior to the start of the season.
