CYA's recreational program was formed in 1971 and is committed to teaching the game of soccer to kids in the Chantilly area. Our league currently offers age divisions from U4 (2015) through U19 (2000).
The recreational soccer program that is primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without the emphasis on travel or high level competition. The purpose of recreational soccer is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, learn the sport, and develop life skills including a life long love of the game.
Fun! It is critical that players involved in youth soccer enjoy the game in which they are playing. The organization must instill a passion and enjoyment in the game, particularly how players perceive their coach(es) and interact with them. A leading reason players under 12 discontinue soccer is because they no longer enjoy the game. It has become work.
Development: A necessary element to support fun, without it training and games get stale because there is no improvement.
Life skills: In our case taught through the sport of soccer
Spring 2019 Registration deadlines and fees are as follows:
Registrants should expect to be contacted by their assigned coaches after March 15. If you haven't heard from a coach by March 22, please contact the appropriate Age-Group Coordinator (AGC). All recreational games will begin on April 6 and run through June 1, with no games on April 20 (Easter weekend / Spring Break) and May 25 (Memorial Day weekend).

Beginning at U11, your child will play on a CYA team participating the the Suburban Friendship League (SFL). The SFL is a recreational soccer league that includes teams from throughout Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland. The SFL season is 7 or 8 games with an end-of-season tournament. Since this is a recreational league, there are no tryouts and everyone plays on a team. Want to “play up” an age group? Revise your registration to indicate that preference or contact the appropriate Age Group Coordinator (AGC) via contacts listed on this page.

Coach, Assistant Coach, and Team Parent Volunteers
CYA Soccer is supported by an outstanding group of volunteer coaches and parents across all recreational age groups. Coaching is a rewarding experience, and CYA will support you with training materials and educational opportunities.
Please indicate your interest in coaching or being a team parent when registering your player.
Need to volunteer in order for a background check? Formally indicate that you'd like to volunteer for a specific age group using our registration system.
Do you need to register to volunteer? Yes, if you plan to be on the fields with the kids in the role of a head coach, assistant coach, or "parent helper" facilitating a game. Team managers that coordinate activities (snacks, etc) do not need to volunteer.
